Besides its food, Belgium is also known for its surrealist painter Rene Magritte. After hearing that a new Magritte museum had opened not too long ago in Brussels, a few of us wanted to check it out while we were here. So on Friday, Liz [Benjamin], Sam [Carr] and I went to see the newly opened Magritte museum by the Place Royale. We had a wonderful time! Although the collection was missing a few of his most famous works such as The Lovers or The False Mirror, we still had a chance to enjoy Magritte’s pastel blue sky dotted with fluffy clouds in his other paintings. We saw not only his paintings but also advertising art, posters, letters and photographs. The set-up was pretty interesting too. I liked how they displayed his works in chronological order on three floors.~ Jae Young Lee
